Car Parks 2018
Following the interest in my previous blog about overnighting in Car Parks and Laybys.
I thought I would make a short blog documenting the car parks I use during 2018. I will include a few basic details for you to read and update it as the year goes on.
February:
West Beach Hayling Island, Hampshire.
We arrived at 6.30pm on a Thursday night, found a space with a sea view, obviously the areas with a sea view get filled up quickly, but the car park is very large, so lots of space in other areas and there a no marked bays to park in, so you can squeeze in 'aire' style.
There were maybe 40 motorhomes parked up on the Friday and Saturday night.
We stayed 2 nights in total and walked West around Sinah common and the golf course and East along the beach to Eaststoke, via the Theme park and Amusement arcades that are just about in the middle of the seafront, where they have a car boot sale every Wednesday too.
There is a pub and a café in the carpark, also a pub up the road that does an all you can eat breakfast for £4, but we didn't eat in any of these this time.
Total costs spent £20 in parking tickets. £12 for the kids in the arcades, over 2 days. £20 in Diesel.
2 days and 2 nights away for £52.
All the details of the carpark can be found in the CM stopover list.
April:
Exmouth seafront, Queens Drive.
We arrived at approximately midnight on a Saturday evening and there were about 15 motorhomes parked up along the length of the seafront.
The beach is a lovely, long and Sandy one and is separated from the parking by the footpath only.
On the Sunday morning we walked the length of the seafront, went in the amusements, bought some milk and had an ice cream from the cafe before popping in the lifeboat station to be nosey and leave a donation.
There are the usual cafes and shops etc as you walk down Queens Drive towards the town itself.
We stayed just the one night and left after lunch to continue our journey down to Cornwall.
24hrs parking £11.
Exmouth council are ment to the in the process of converting 3 car parks for motorhomes overnight including services points, if and when these are up and running motorhomes will be banned on Queens Drive but as yet its the same as it been for years and there is no sign of the changes to the naked eye.
As listed on the CM stopovers.
Mevagissey, Cornwall. Willow car and coach park.
We arrived at 10pm on a Thursday night.
I parked behind the willow trading building, as they prefer and bought a ticket from the machine, there were 5 other motorhomes.
The overnight charge runs from 6pm to 10pm and then am extra daily or hourly charge applies but during the day the car park is manned and they are happy to let you settle up on the way out, if you ask beforehand.
In the morning we walked through the village and spent most of the day, around the harbour or in the aquarium and museum, both of which are totally free to enter.
I particularly enjoyed the pasties for lunch!
There are many shops, cafes, pubs and boat trips all open daily.
Overnight 6pm to 10am parking £8
10am to 4pm parking cost £5
This car park is also listed on the CM stopovers.
