I down sized from a bigger motorhome after my partner died ... there is just me and a large Labrador now and it suits us ... this picture was our first week out with it ... We came home on a Green flag truck ... it was a hell of a learning curve ... but it proved I could do it on my own ... looking forward to lots of trips this year

P.s. I beleive there are a few VW owners on here and also a page you might like

I admit to being a bit cautious of wild camping ... I intend to give it a try ... mainly because most sites need booking and that is a pain to have to plan things ... I tend to just go and hope there is space ... does not work in the busy months
I know your van is a VW T4 but is it a Auto-Sleeper type or like eastridingbri70's one?

Being real nosey what dogs have you got ... mine as you probably noticed from my avatar is a Labrador called Max ... he is a rescue dog and has problems with his back leg and both hips ... but it don't seem to bother him much ... he also hated the water ... but since he has had to have Hydrotherapy he has found is inner dolphin ... you never know he might even paddle next time at the beach........

There is a group Pets and Motorhoming  http://bit.ly/2lyg7Yu ... where we can disguss any inovations or problems and also swap dog friendly pubs/sites/places ... NEILMAC is now including if a stopover is dog friendly (if he has the information) ... hoping the group will turn into a good resource

Pictures of dogs and VW please

We have done a bit wild camping already but still trying to find what places are best and safe.
Dogs are both Westies (mother and daughter) 15 and nearly 13 years old. they can't walk very far now though.
It's always good when pubs are dog friendly. I'll have a look at that website, thanks for that. Photos of van and dogs - they like their comfort.

The Auto-sleepers seemed the best laid out ones ... I did look at a Bessacar and Romahome ... but they just did not seem as well laid out ...

Westies are great dogs ... into everything like most terriers

Tom1, I am sure wild camping is fine ... it is just now I am on my own, friends are concerned about me doing it ... and the only time I tried the police woke me up to see if I was OK ... ... I expect if I had really needed them they would never have been about
