We have a Hobby 750. We found that you can travel in Austria without a Go-Box providing you keep off Motorways. If you are stopped on a motorway without a Go-Box you need to Grovel or face an instant heavy fine!!
If you set your GPS to avoid motorways and toll roads you should be OK.

Yes we have found that is the case However it is a constant worry that you will stray on to a road where a box is needed. It's not just motorways that need a GO Box, some other main roads also need one.
