Went to collect our new (to us) motorhome today. After much considertion, she is to be known as Sally 2 - but generally called Sally, for short. Well, you can't Sally Forth in a motorhome which isnot called Sally, can you? And that is what we continue to do. It was rather sad leaving Sally 1 - silly really as she is only a vehicle, but one which holds so many good memories for us, that perhaps it would be stranger not to feel anything.
Sally 2 is an Autosleeper Worcester - long bench seats, rear washroom/shower on a Mercedes base with autobox.
There are several new things to learn - the water system (Whale) and heating (Trauma Combi) are different to what we have been used to, and putting an auto on blocks will be an interesting experience - calls for some practice on the drive first, I think!!
We have about 4 weeks before we set off on our Scandinavia ect trip, so now we have to work out all the systems and find how all our stuff (and there's a lot of it!) will fit in.
One problem has emerged - we are getting the private plate transfered - normally a 3 day job the dealer tells us, but due to the DVLA at Bournemouth being being closed, with consequent staff losses etc etc, it could be up to 6 weeks before it is all done, including return of the V5 (essential to carry when travelling abroad). If the worst happens the departure date wil have to be delayed - hope not, but at least the only thing booked is the ferry, and that can be changed (for a fee, of course!).
We are looking forward to many happy times in Sally 2, and are sure we will continue to have many great motorhoming adventures in the future
