Hi there

Thought it was about time I got around to introducing us to everyone.

We're recent converts to motorhoming, having been the owners of an Autotrail Chieftain for about 6 months. As I write we've just agreed to part exchange for a Rapido, so looking forward to getting the new van in a couple of weeks.

In true motorhome fashion have named the new van "Russell" - with the obvious "R" connection, and likening the van to Russell the wilderness explorer in the film "Up": I'd like to think that we can find some wilderness out there along with some creature comforts from time to time.

No children, no pets - so hat's off to those of you who travel with your treasured family:

Our first trip in the new van is to Bath, at the end of Feb so I'll post a few pics and a review of the van and the site and let's see how we get on.

Janet:
Thanks for the intro and welcome to the club.

We have had fun getting our 'new' van to how we are wanting it. 10 curtains, 12 tie backs and 2 headrest covers later. I am happy to just enjoy it!

We call ours Carlos and our next trip is a family visit for big birthdays and new babies. Beyond that who knows.

Enjoy your travels - Caromac

Welcome Janet.
Our van is called Elvis because of the sticker of Elvis Presley on the over cab bunk, the previous owner was a very big fan, but it seemed wrong to remove him off the front when we got home, so he has stayed.

All the best with things!

Hello Janet and :welcome2:

Always very exciting when getting a new MH.

We don't have a name for ours but I do call her 'Old Girl' which sometimes gets me into trouble with Mrs Spinner!!

I grew up in Bath and now live 8 miles away in Bradford on Avon, so if you need any info let me know.

I did do a post a little while back on the topic in My Home Town http://www.clubmotorhome.co.uk/forum/my-home-town/4854-my-home-town-bradford-on-avon.html#6888

Will look forward to your thoughts and review on your van and Bath or even your home town?

Thanks

Enjoy

He all. We are quite new to this aswell. We have called ours Molly. Except that she is a Mercedes and they both begin with the same letter, no other reason for her name. Our second trip is back to the UK next week up to North Wales with our 2 little pouches.

Hello Molly and welcome to you too :welcome1:

I am intrigued, as you said your second trip is back to the UK. Where are you now?
Hope you have had some sunshine as it's been a bit wet and windy in Blighty

Hi Both and Welcome

Nice to hear from you

There is a nice little thread called My Home Town where members can tell others about their home town from the perspective of visiting it in a MH, good places to eat, visit and off course stopover.

What's yours

We are a couple of old crusties who think/act like we are twenty something

Spinner & Mrs S off course!

Hi Tash, we did meet an English couple in France last year who had a cat with them, they walked her on a lead when they went out.
My kids loved the cat and keep asking to go back to the same aire in hope we see them again!

Hello to everyone here, the kids have grown up but not left the nest yet. Me and the wife planned to purchase a MH next year but a winter bargain fell into our laps thanks to Gumtree at the start of January (Fiat Ducato CI Carioca 15). This is all very new to us and a steep learning curve. We have already had a night sleepover at a local beauty spot, the MH performed well kept us warm and reasonably comfortable and gave us an insight to what we need to make our MH life run smoother. We plan to travel to Europe in May this year Brugg to Roscoff 10 days of freedom, not sure of the stops between these locations yet. All advise is welcomed as I'm sure mistakes will be made. This site has been priceless so far and our thanks to all who post here. Roll on the sunny days Duane and Julie.

Hi Both
We generally get at least two things wrong each trip - catalogue so far:-
Not realising you have to twist the plug into the campsite connector to get the electric juice flowing
Not flicking a switch inside the MH, so thinking out cable was defunct and embarrassing ourselves in front of the site manager when we took the cable back that they'd kindly lent
Not understanding the thermostat etc on our Truma system so regularly roasting or freezing
Always thinking we've got more fresh water than we have never mind what the reading says.
And the ultimate - dropping the screw on cap from the toilet cassette down the drain. Luckily no-one saw, and I appear to have married a man with extraordinarily long arms!
Still it can only get better- no doubt there will be more happenings with our new bus.

I hope you have as much fun as we are

Hi All,
We bought our first MH in November after hiring one last year and touring the Norfolk/Suffolk coast. She is in need of a little interior TLC at the moment so we haven't had a night out in her yet, although lots of cups of coffees have been consumed inside over the winter weekends!
Kids have left the nest so just me, Jane and the other half (Arnie) and our little lurcher Oscar who the MH was primarily hired for so he could come on holiday with us!
Looking forward to learning what it's all about over the coming summer months.

Hi JanenArnie & Oscar. :welcome1:

Remember, Motorhoming is about the journey not the destination!

At least it is for us.
